Essential and useful information about the Oktoberfest:

When will the Oktoberfest 2014 take place?
On Saturday, September 20th, the Schottenhamel tent is the place to be, if you want to catch the official opening ceremonies. At noon, the Mayor of Munich will have the honor of tapping the first keg of Oktoberfest beer. Once the barrel has been tapped, all visitors will then be allowed to quench their thirst. It pays to arrive early in order to experience the festivities up close and personal and it's quite common for visitors to come around 9am to secure good seats. The festival will last until October 5th.

What are the opening hours?
Beer Serving Hours
On opening day, beer is served from 12 am until 10:30 pm.
From Monday to Friday, beer is sold from 10 am to 10:30 pm, on Saturdays, Sundays and Friday October 3rd, the tents serve beer from 9 am to 10:30 pm.
The exceptions are Käfer’s Wiesnschänke and the Wine Tent, where last orders are at 0:30 am and the tent closes at 1 am.
The stands selling roast chicken, sausages or coffee are open until 11 pm.

Sales Booths (souveniors, cigarettes, etc.)
On opening day, the stands are open from 10 am to 12 pm.
From Monday to Thursday, opening hours are from 10 am to 11:30 pm, on Thursday October 2nd until 12 pm.
On Saturdays and Friday October 3rd, stands are open from 9 am to 12 pm and from 9 am to 11:30 pm on Sundays.

Carnival and Rides
On opening day, the fun rides open at 12 am and run until 12 pm. Sunday to Thursday, the fun starts at 10 am and goes on until 11:30 pm.
On Saturdays and on Friday September 26th, Thursday October 2nd and Friday October 3rd, carnies and fun rides will entertain you from 10 am to 12 pm.

Family Days
Every tuesday from 12pm until 6pm

When is Oktoberfest scheduled for 2015?
2015: September 20th - October 4th

Do I have to pay entry?
No, the entry to the area and all beer-tents is free.

How can I make a reservation for beer tents?
You can not make a reservation at Oktoberfest.de!
For making a reservation in a beer tent you have to contact the respective beer tent. You can find the contact dates of the tents on our tent-overview.

Can I enter the beer tents without a reservation?
Of course you can also enter the tents without any reservation. But please consider to come early, because the tents fill up very quickly! When the tents are overfilled, you can not enter anymore. On weekend the tents often close before 11 am. because of overfilling. During the week the tents are normally open until afternoon.
