Going to Munich by train

If you are planning to travel to Munich by train, the following information should make your trip more comfortable:

Going to Munich by train, you will most likely arrive at Hauptbahnhof, the Central Train Station. From there, you will find a variety of possibilities for getting around in Munich or for going directly to the Oktoberfest.

S-Bahn:
The lines of the Munich S-Bahn leave in all directions from the Hauptbahnhof. Tickets can be bought at vending machines, which can be found all over the building. More information about timetables, prices and routes can be found at www.mvv-muenchen.de.

U-Bahn:
The subway lines U4 and U5 will take you directly from the Hauptbahnhof to the Oktoberfest. It’s just one stop to Theresienwiese. More information about timetables, prices and routes can be found at www.mvg-mobil.de.

Taxi:
Taxis can be found at the exits Bayerstraße, Arnulfstraße and Bahnhofsplatz.

On foot:
From the Hauptbahnhof, it is just a ten minute walk to the Oktoberfest. Leave the train station at the exit Bayerstraße and follow this street for 300 meters. Then turn left at the Hermann-Lingg-Straße and walk on for another 400 meters, after which you will arrive directly at the festival grounds.

If you arrive at Ostbahnhof, the means of transport are very similar:

S-Bahn:
The lines of the Munich S-Bahn leave Ostbahnhof in all directions. The stations closest to the Oktoberfest are Hauptbahnhof and Hackerbrücke, which can be reached by all lines leaving from Ostbahnhof. U-Bahn:
