The Official 2018 Oktoberfest Poster has been revealed

"Strolling across the Wiesn under a bright blue sky - surrounded by happy people, sweet smells and traditional music."

The world-famous Oktoberfest also has fans in northern Germany and a very passionate one has won the 2018 Oktoberfest poster competition: Born in 1974, Dirk Lippmann from Osnabrück made 1st place with his design this year.

The Competition

Since 1952, the official Oktoberfest poster has been crowned by a jury, which had been choosing from a group of invited candidates. Since 2017, everybody can submit their idea by an online Portal. In 2018, 60 out of the 184 submitted designs were presented in a public online contest, where users chose their 30 favorite designs. Taking into account technical as well as artistic aspects, the jury chose the winner, without knowing who designed which poster.

The winner

Inspired by the feeling of "strolling across the Wiesn under a bright blue sky - surrounded by happy people, sweet smells and traditional music", titled his submission "Auf eine himmlische Wiesn" - "To a heavenly Wiesn". Lippmann will not only receive 2500€, but also the big honor of getting to see his design on approximately 10.000 posters and about 100.000 brochures, published in German, English and Italian language. Also, since 1978, the winning design gets to be on the official collectors’ mug, a steadily growing series of glass or stone mugs and countless other official souvenirs each showing the official poster design of the respective year.
