Pschorr-Festzelt Bräurosl: Reservation, atmosphere, history

Everything new in the traditional Bräurosl

The new host Peter Reichert got a modern festival tent for the Oktoberfest premiere 2022: Nevertheless, many traditions are preserved.

Modern tent: Bräurosl with a new look since 2022

With a ridge height of 15 meters, the Bräurosl is the highest of all the tents at the Oktoberfest and can hold a total of 8,250 people, 560 of them in the covered outdoor loggia and 1,200 guests in the beer garden. In the interior, which has been redesigned since 2022, the color green predominates, following the tradition of earlier tents.

"I've already had experience at the Oide Wiesn with the beauty queen, but the Bräurosl with its long tradition is really something special. I'm really looking forward to it," says festival host Peter Reichert, who celebrated his Bräurosl premiere at Oktoberfest 2022.

The history: even today, all follow the beautiful Bräurosl

The festival hall bears the name of the beautiful Rosi Pschorr, the former Pschorr innkeeper's daughter. She was so popular with visitors to the Oktoberfest because of her beauty that the tent was soon named after her. In the future, too, a painting above the tent entrance will commemorate Rosi's special beauty and grace. In 2020, festival host Peter Reichert took over the marquee, which had been founded in 1901, from the Heide family of innkeepers, who had previously served the beer for 83 years.

The audience: regulars, families, and gays

Many regulars, especially families and companies, appreciated the Munich style and the friendly waiters, and have been coming back year after year. A challenge that Peter Reichert wants to meet. The gay "Munich Lions Club" has established a special tradition: For more than 30 years, the gay community has invited guests to Gay Sunday at the Bräurosl on the first Sunday of the Oktoberfest. It started with a few leather guys - with and without traditional costumes - but today this Sunday belongs firmly to the gay community. When the singing Bräurosl intones "a bissl Leder braucht a jeda!" (everyone needs a bit of leather!), it's hearty until the tables and benches shake.

Die Musikbands: Festkapelle Josef Menzl und Erwin und die Heckflossen

The Josef Menzl band entertains guests at the Bräurosl during the day. (Old) Bavarian brass music is part of the predominant repertoire of the band from the district of Regensburg, which was founded in 1995 and has already gained folk festival experience at the Old Oktoberfest. In the evenings, the party atmosphere gets going: the band is supported by the show band Erwin und die Heckflossen from Regensburg, which has already rocked many Bavarian stages.

The menu: crispy Oktoberfest treats to accompany your drinks

Bavarian delicacies are a natural part of the traditional tent. At the daily changing lunch menu from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., guests can expect, for example, beef tartare (Monday) or "Kalbsfiaß bacha" - roasted calf's feet (Thursday). From the "Krönfleisch kitchen" there are daily between 11 and 14 o'clock white sausages, stock sausages or overnight cooked ox roast. And throughout the day, the sausage fryer provides guests with veal sweetbread sausage and Rostbratwürstl. Vegetarians and vegans will also be satisfied here, with quinoa patties or spinach-cheese pretzel dumplings. Of course, the Bräurosl serves the festival beer from Hacker-Pschorr.

For backseat drivers: maypoles and Gay Sunday

Finding the beautiful Bräurosl will continue to be quite easy: In front of the main entrance, two 20-meter-high maypoles will continue to tower into the sky as a landmark, visible from afar. The Bräurosl will also continue to exist "in real life": For the parade of the Oktoberfest hosts, a young lady slips into the dirndl of the "Bräurosl" and enters the festival on horseback.
