Café Mohrenkopf

The oldest coffee tent at the Wiesn

Fresh cakes and pies are baked here every day, making it the perfect pit stop for those with a sweet tooth. Secret tip: the “Mohrenkopf” with cream.

What’s special: homemade cake instead of beer

Café Mohrenkopf is the only tent at the Wiesn with its own bakery on the festival site. Arrive at the Oktoberfest for an early morning pint, and you will be greeted by the smell of fresh apple strudel. If you simply cannot resist, you can also come for breakfast from 9 am. It also has freshly baked pretzels!

The audience: if you like it quiet, this is the place for you.

If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the Wiesn, you will feel right at home at Café Mohrenkopf. Unlike the other big festival tents and café tents, it has a more peaceful atmosphere. If you’re looking for long beer tables, you will not find them here: small, round tables are instead the perfect place for a sit down and a coffee. The mood starts to pick up in the evening. The party band FLatOut entertains guests with live music from 7 pm (or 6 pm on Friday and Saturday).

The menu: the best cakes at the Oktoberfest

Café Mohrenkopf’s own bakery makes a varied selection of different fresh cakes, fruit tarts and cream cakes. A particularly popular choice is the apple strudel, fresh out of the oven, and the cheesecake. A slice of these delightful cakes is best enjoyed with a cup of freshly brewed coffee. Café Mohrenkopf also serves breakfast from 9 or 10 am with freshly baked pretzels. In the evening, coffee is replaced with sparkling wine and cocktails. Instead of sweet treats, the café serves a selection of savory snacks and sandwiches, as well as homemade goulash soup.

Only here: a politically incorrect delicacy

As the name of the café suggests, it serves the famous “mohrenköpfe”: a sweet made of fresh whipped cream covered in chocolate. The delicious mohrenköpfe have been enjoyed by visitors ever since 1950, when Café Mohrenkopf first appeared at the Wiesn.
