Zum Stiftl

Celebrate at the Stiftl: Bavarian hospitality with an Alpine feel

Proud country house on the outside, rustic ski cabin on the inside. The Stiftl is a meeting point of different traditions. It’s recommended to both families and party-goers, and gourmets too have praised the Stiftl’s crispy roast chicken.

What’s special: the first carbon-neutral Wiesn tent

What a great example: The company Stiftl has been running its Wiesn tent completely carbon-neutral since 2018, making it the first festival tent of its kind in the history of the Munich Oktoberfest — and indeed, all folk festivals worldwide. How did they do it? For everything that is consumed and sold in the festival tent, a Munich climate consultancy measures the CO2 emissions that are inevitably emitted during the festival. Stiftl offsets the emissions from its tent via a certified climate protection program to cancel out the effect on the global climate.

The audience: guests from around the world, regulars and families

The Stiftls place extra importance on a family-friendly service, children’s menu and catering to seniors. The beer and food is deliciously traditional and you can expect good service. As a result, it is popular with regulars, families and visitors from around the world. The atmosphere can range from cozy to vibrant. The more gusto the live band Zillertaler Gipfelstürmer plays with, the livelier the colorful, international audience gets.

The menu: roast chicken, breakfast & street stall

If you have never tried one of Stiftl’s sensational crispy roast chickens at the Wiesn, now is the time — you can get it different variations in the tent or to go from the street stall. On both Wiesn Tuesdays, the landlords offer discounted prices for families and children, and you can buy two portions of roast chicken for the price of one from the street stall. To drink, you can get Paulaner weissbier or Hacker Pschorr Oktoberfest beer. Sparkling wine from a stone jug and the house schnapps, “Stiftl’s Rachengurgler”, round off the culinary experience at Stiftl’s.

Only here: cozy ski lodge vibe

The small Oktoberfest tent “Zum Stiftl” — located on the corner of Wirtsbudenstrasse/Strasse 4 between the Löwenbräu tent and the Pschorr Bräurosl — is famous for its roast chicken and poultry. Where else would you find a wooden ski lodge at the heart of the lovingly arranged, traditional Bavarian interior? The 2-in-1 Wiesn tent “Zum Stiftl” has been at the Oktoberfest since 2008. Landlord Lorenz Stiftl has experienced at the Wiesn going back to 2002 at the Wienerwald tent.
