Taking the coach to Oktoberfest

Information for coach companies

During the Wiesn there are lots of bus terminals and designated parking lots for coaches. It is worth booking in advance before you set off in order to save time and stress on the way.

Taking the coach to Oktoberfest: important information

Applies to coaches: Roads are closed around the Theresienwiese during Oktoberfest. Within the closure zone, the police do not allow any busses. Therefore you are strongly advised not to drive directly to Theresienwiese. Embarkation and disembarkation of passengers is only possible at certain designated parking lots. Please also note that Munich is an eco-zone. The area within the Mittlerer Ring beltway (this is excluded from the closure zone) can only be driven in by vehicles with a green emissions-control windshield sticker. More information can be found in the bus flyer published by the Munich city authorities (updated 2018).

Bus station at P+R Fröttmaning

Easy to reach from the A9 and A99 is the large Park + Ride facility Fröttmaning, Werner-Heisenberg-Allee 25. There are 25 parking spots for coaches here. There are approximately 50 further bus parking spots at Parkplatz P4 in Fröttmaning (Parkplatz Mitte, north of the stadium) – except on FC Bayern home game days when these parking spots are not available for Oktoberfest busses.

In principle these parking spots can be used without booking in advance. Those who want to play it safe can book 24 hours in advance. The parking fees are calculated on site. More information can be found at https://www.parkundride.de/en/fuer-busunternehmer.html.

From Fröttmaning passengers can get to Oktoberfest in comfort using the U-Bahn line 6, which is just a few minutes away. The journey to Goetheplatz lasts about 20 minutes. From there you can get to the Wiesn in a few minutes via Mozartstraße.

Bus station Messestadt Ost

The parking lot at Willy-Brandt-Allee 11 can be reached from the intersection München-Ost on the A99 (direction Munich) and then following the A94 till the intersection Feldkirchen-West, leaving there. From there simply follow the signs for “P+R Messestadt Ost”. Due to the limited number of parking spots, booking in advance is advised. More information

Further parking spots are situated at De-Gasperi-Bogen, Gate 9. Oktoberfest Camping Munich-Riem offers 200 bus parking spots for a daily cost of 17 euros. More information and booking

The U-Bahn line 2 goes from Messestadt Ost and Messestadt West towards downtown. The best option is to change at Innsbrucker Ring onto the U5 and take it to Theresienwiese.

Stopping at the Central Bus Station

The Central Bus Station (ZOB) is located directly at Hackerbrücke, Arnulfstraße 21. Here there are designated parking spots for coaches. From there it is only 10 minutes walk to Oktoberfest. During the Wiesn only embarkation and disembarkation is permitted. The bus is only permitted to wait for 1 hour. The fee is 10 euros.

Central Bus Parking Lot Hansastraße 51

Favorite parking lot for coaches and therefore at weekends in the morning often already full: the former IGA parking lot at Hansastraße 51. The parking fee is 38 euros per bus per day. There is space for 80 busses. More information and reservations. From there you can travel to Hans-Fischer-Straße with the 131 or 132 busses or walk to Theresienwiese in just 15 minutes.

Parking lots on public land

At Tübinger Straße at the weekends approximately 25 extra bus parking spots are available. Nearby is the U-Bahn and S-Bahn station Heimeranplatz, from which you can be at Theresienwiese in a few minutes with the U4 or U5.
