Heavy penalties for drones above the Oktoberfest

From Saturday, September 17, 2022 to October 3, 2022, a flight restriction zone covering a radius of approximately 5.5 kilometers and an altitude of 10 kilometers will be in effect daily from 08:00 until 01:30 the following day. The so-called restricted area with radio communication obligation covers an area of 33 kilometers in diameter.

This means that no aircraft of any kind are allowed over the festival area, this applies to drones of any size or purpose of flight. The airspace is strictly monitored by police helicopters, in case of disregard you have to expect a fine or even imprisonment.

Alternative photo spots for your Oktoberfest panorama

For many photographers, drone shots of the Wiesn certainly seem appealing; the viewing platform of the Paulskirche, for example, is suitable for this. You can also get a great panoramic view of the Theresienwiese from the Bavaria or the Ferris wheel, for example.
