First overview of "Safe Oktoberfest"

How many women use the offer "Safe Okotberfest for Girls and Women"

Women use the "Safe Oktoberfest for Girls and Women" campaign more often than in the previous year. According to the organisers, however, this has nothing to do with a general increase in violence at the Oktoberfest, but with the greater awareness of the campaign.

The campaign "Safe Oktoberfest for Girls and Women" is an offer for Oktoberfest visitors who need help for various reasons. In 14 cases, women with sexual or physical experiences of violence came to the Security Point this year. Last year, eight cases could be helped.

However, the organizers of the campaign do not see a general increase in violence at the Oktoberfest. The fact that more women came to the contact point was due to the increased awareness of the action. In addition, political debates such as #metoo had sharpened the awareness of the visitors.

What the Security Point offers to women

Women can also get help at the Security Point if their wallet or mobile phone has been stolen. Even if they no longer feel safe, they can be brought home free of charge by taxi via the support service.

However, the initiative advises all Wiesn visitors to note down important mobile phone numbers separately and also to carry some small change close to their bodies. Clear meeting points can also help people find each other. Many critical situations could thus be avoided in advance.
