More passengers than ever before on one day in 27 years
Munich Airport handled a total of 174,000 passengers on Friday, September 27. This is a new record in the 27-year history of the airport at Erdinger Moos. It's hardly surprising that many of the visitors walked through the terminals in Lederhosen or Dirndl. Especially for visitors from overseas, the airport is the "gateway to the festival" - from here it is not unusual to go directly to the Theresienwiese, at most with a short detour to the locker to stow your luggage.
By the way, Friday's daily record is not the only peak that the airport was happy to announce: With 1,115,500 passengers, the week from 23 to 29 September 2019 was the busiest week in the airport's history to date.
