Munich Wiesn Foundation donates over 60,000 euros

Wiesnwirte support 8 Munich projects

Although the Oktoberfest cannot take place in 2021, the Wiesnwirte are once again helping Munich's charitable organisations: With 61,665.70 euros, the Munich Wiesn Foundation is supporting eight social organisations this year.

Help for children and young people in need

Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter presented cheques to all those who received funding and thanked them for their social commitment. The eleven social projects supported this year by a total of eight charitable institutions are primarily concerned with children and young people in need. Lord Mayor Dieter Reiter: "I am very pleased that the Wiesn Foundation is supporting numerous social projects with its generous donation this year, all of which are committed to helping disadvantaged children and young people in our city. It is precisely this social togetherness and togetherness that enriches our Munich."

Munich Wiesn Foundation: charitable help for 22 years

The Munich Wiesn Foundation was established in 1999 by the Wiesnwirte and the breweries represented at the Wiesn. The focus of the foundation is to support people in need and social institutions, in particular youth care, assistance for the elderly, public health and welfare in the area of the City of Munich.

Peter Inselkammer, spokesman for the Wiesnwirte: "Our concern is to help people who are not doing so well. Children are particularly close to our hearts". In 2001, the first action of the foundation was to enable the Münchner Tafel to buy a new delivery van. In the following years, the foundation supported, among other things, the distribution of breakfast to Munich children in need, the care of traumatised children, meals for senior citizens in need as well as activities of the Christophorus Hospice Association.

The Munich Wiesn Foundation is supported not only by the Wiesn hosts but also by the Stadtsparkasse München and the Verein Münchener Brauereien. The Wiesn Foundation helps quickly and without long bureaucratic channels. Associations and social projects can apply for funding at the Munich regional office of the German Foundation Centre.
