A memory of the Oktoberfest not taking place

Heart-shaped Oktoberfest-tables, carriages, the barrels with Oktoberfest beer - it is a nice gesture of the Munich Breweries Association to soften the melancholy feeling about the 187th Oktoberfest not taking place.

"With this action we would like to create an image that will remain as a memory of the Oktoberfest not taking place. Away from the Theresienwiese, without celebration, but one that shows how emotional this special time of the year is for us and how we miss "our Wiesn"," said Andreas Steinfatt, Chairman of the Munich Breweries Association.

The Oktoberfest is a matter of the heart

Normally, the Oktoberfest in the Schottenhamel tent would have been officially opened on this day with a toast by Mayor Dieter Reiter, but in Corona times everything is different. The brewmasters take over tapping, the guests drink the first measure in compliance with the Corona distance rules.

But one thing is made clear by this very special scenario: The Oktoberfest is a matter of the heart - even if it does not take place as it did this year. By the way, the event originated as a collaboration between the Paulaner Brewery and the fashion house Hirmer und Amsel Trachten, who also designed a special unique costume - in mourning black, of course.
