Oktoberfest - ein Fest der Landeshauptstadt München

Learn Oktoberfest secrets on virtual guided tours (only in German)

Virtual live tours of the Oktoberfest

The new virtual live tours of the Oktoberfest offered by München Tourismus promise an (almost) genuine Oktoberfest experience. On eight dates during the Oktoberfest season, officially trained guides from the City of Munich will lead online tours of the Theresienwiese. On each tour, an Oktoberfest expert is a live guest who answers questions on the respective special topic: from the showman to the Oktoberfest innkeeper, from the bandmaster to the Oktoberfest chief. Insider information guaranteed!

The people behind the Oktoberfest come live into the living room

Clemens Baumgärtner, Head of Labor and Economic Affairs and Oktoberfest Director: "In its second pandemic year, the Wiesn lives in the hearts of its fans. For them and all those who want to become fans, we have come up with something very special: We bring the makers of the Wiesn live into the living room via Zoom. This provides an opportunity for a relaxed chat with insiders and experts. See you again next year live at the Wiesn!"

Guides invite Oktoberfest experts as guests

The series of virtual Wiesn tours begins shortly before the actual start of the Wiesn with the tour "Aufbaut is!" ("It's built") on Thursday, September 16, and ends on the last Sunday of the Wiesn, October 3, with the "Taps". On each tour, the guides Grit Ranft and Birgit Stempfle, who are experts on the Wiesn, will give you a glimpse behind the scenes with Wiesn history and stories. On each special topic, a guest of honor will be a live guest and will be available to answer questions. The spectrum of topics ranges from construction, planning and logistics to carny and restaurant trade, traditional music and the traditional costume and rifle parade.

The line-up of Oktoberfest experts includes Clemens Baumgärtner, Head of Economic Affairs and Head of the Oktoberfest, as well as Andre Listing, Head of Events at the City of Munich, and Peter Inselkammer and Christian Schottenhamel, spokespersons for the innkeepers, Sebastian Willenborg, Junior Manager of the Oktoberfest Giant Wheel, and Manfred Schauer, the "Schichtl". Other guests of honor are the managing director of Festring München e.V. Manfred Newrzella and the conductor of the Wiesnkapellmeister Andreas Stauber.
