Playing as a band at the Oktoberfest

Applying to perform at the Oktoberfest as a musician or artist

What would the Oktoberfest be without music in the beer tents? Unimaginable! If you and your band dream of starting up a tune in one of the tents and getting the guests dancing, you can apply to the tent proprietors. Or in the Herzkasperl tent at the Oide Wiesn you can try your luck on the stage.

A fanfare, a “cheers!”, beer mugs in the air – the “Musi” is playing

Swaying and singing along and dancing on the benches: the music in the beer tents gets the guests in the mood to celebrate. And the bands know how to bring the party atmosphere in the tents to boiling point and get the guests dancing on the beer benches. A unified program of music this is not. They may play the current Oktoberfest hits which the guests can all sing along to. But the bands need to have the classics in their repertoire too. It’s only when “Sierra Madre”, “Fürstenfeld” or “Skandal im Sperrbezirk” start up on the tuba, trumpets and trombone that the real Volksfest feeling comes alive in the tents. As a band you need to apply to the proprietors of the big and small tents.

The Herzkasperlzelt: Where artists and amateurs can go on stage

Outside the tents there’s no opportunity for musicians and buskers to perform. Those who don’t want to deprive the Oktoberfest guests of their artistic talent can find a stage in the Herzkasperlzelt culture tent at the Oide Wiesn. Here amateurs and professionals can perform on the dance floor or in the beer garden. From dance to music to song. Present are groups from Bavaria and further afield. The music should be appropriate to a beer garden in its style and the number of performers needs to fit too. A registration is asked for, ideally by email to musik@herzkasperlzelt.de or during the Oktoberfest you can come into the tent office. Moreover in the Herzkasperl tent you can always spontaneously join in!
