Kuffler’s wine tent offers a wide selection of fine wines, crémant, prosecco, and champagne. Paulaner wheat beer on tap is also served until 9:00 p.m. In the beautifully decorated tent, you can sit comfortably on corner benches with backrests, and the garden evokes the atmosphere of a Franconian vineyard. The kitchen serves restaurant-quality specialties. With its four bars and sensational live bands, you can even party until 12:30 a.m.!
The history: Wine service since 1885
A wine tent at the world’s largest beer festival? That’s anything but a novelty. Fine wine has had a permanent place at Oktoberfest since 1885. Originally, there were smaller bodegas and wine stands. In 1984, Roland Kuffler and his then-partner Dr. Erich Kaub from the Nymphenburg Sektkellerei took over a tent dedicated exclusively to serving wine: it was named “Zum Wein-Wirt.” In 1999, the Kufflers took over the tent from Nymphenburg Sekt/Schloss Wachenheim. This was followed in 2000 by a name change to “Kufflers Weinzelt” and the construction of the new festival hall in 2005, which added 500 additional seats. Stephan and Sebastian Kuffler, like their mother Doris Kuffler, are both Oktoberfest tent owners and jointly manage Kufflers Weinzelt as the second generation of the family.
The Crowd: Regulars and Celebrities
Thanks to the extended hours, the last seating at Kuffler’s Wine Tent begins at 8:30 p.m. Many regulars look forward to the Högl Fun Band and enjoy the steadily rising energy while sipping wine and champagne and savoring fine delicacies and late-night finger food. Those who prefer a more laid-back atmosphere should stop by Kuffler’s Weinzelt and the tent garden in the afternoon. There, you can find a cozy spot on the corner benches, where snacks to go with a glass of wine and pastries to accompany your coffee beckon. For the Mittagswiesn from Monday through Friday, in addition to duck and chicken, other homemade dishes are offered at attractive lunch prices.

The music: Four Bands for Kuffler’s Wine Tent!
Three different bands perform daily in Kuffler’s Wine Tent starting at noon. The Sumpfkröten (Saturday, Sunday, and holidays from 11 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.) alternate with the Junge Wilde (Monday–Friday, 12 p.m.–3:30 p.m.), the Blechblos’n (daily from 4:00 PM to 8:15 PM), and the Högl Fun Band (8:45 PM until closing) cover the entire spectrum: from traditional brass and Oktoberfest music to legendary hits in the evening. Teddy Schmacht gives two extremely charming short performances every day at 8:00 p.m. and 10:30 p.m.—and yes, the name says it all!
The menu: From Oktoberfest Classics to Fine Seafood Cuisine
Weinzelt guests enjoy the extensive menu, which offers not only Oktoberfest delicacies but also a selection of dishes from Kuffler’s Munich restaurants. Many dishes are prepared à la carte and are just as elaborately prepared as they would be in a restaurant. Regional products from the Munich area—many of which are organic—and an ever-growing selection of vegan and vegetarian dishes impress visitors anew every Oktoberfest season.
For insiders: A Gem at the Wiesn
Anyone who steps into Kuffler’s wine tent finds themselves in a true gem. The rustic wood paneling is crafted from wood that’s over a hundred years old. Under the large, open tent canopy,
flower wreaths and wine tent flags fill the space, surrounded by the gallery with its small balconies. Sculptures by artist Hermann Rastorfer greet guests on light fixtures and in display cases. There, all guests feel at home on cozy corner benches, attended to by attentive wine tent waitstaff in smart lederhosen.
