The second oldest Oktoberfest tent
Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside - that's the organic chicken and duck at Ammer. The ‘oldest chicken roastery in the world’ has been at the Wiesn since 1885. And thus virtually a leader in the poultry sector. It is also characterised by a sustainable and holistic concept.
Here's what guests can expect at the Hühner- und Entenbraterei AMMER
What makes it special: everyone is welcome
At Ammer, we strive to create an all-around feel-good experience: for the little rascals, there are child-friendly portions and menus, along with menus designed with special care. For older guests, we also offer smaller portions of certain dishes and the “Münchner Quartl”—a quarter of an organic chicken—which, of course, anyone is welcome to order. For wheelchair users, special tables are provided both in the beer garden and in the tent so they can enjoy a relaxed and equally authentic Oktoberfest experience. Here, the focus is on high quality to ensure a successful visit for young and old alike.
The Audience: Quality-Conscious and Family-Friendly
Here you’ll find a colorful mix of guests: families, businesspeople, and groups of friends of all ages—and when the weather is nice, you can also enjoy the hidden beer garden, which is still considered a true insider’s tip among connoisseurs. Since 2025, the beer garden has also been home to the “HANNIS Nest” bar, which is perfect for a spontaneous after-work drink at the Wiesn.
A sustainable and innovative concept
Ammer, the chicken and duck rotisserie, is a true pioneer in the organic food scene. Organic items make up 70 percent of the menu, including organic duck since 2022. As early as 2019, the small festival tent expanded its holistic concept—including food sharing, and a partnership with Regenbogen Arbeit, whose team helps people with mental disabilities and the long-term unemployed find suitable employment.Ammer is also taking a stand against food waste with “Too Good To Go”: Perfectly good leftover food is distributed in surprise bags at the end of the day instead of being thrown away.
The Menu: Poultry, Vegetarian, and Vegan Dishes
Grilled organic chicken and crispy duck taste just as good with an Augustiner on tap at the Ammer Chicken and Duck Rotisserie as the sweet, liquid “Kitzler” desserts that follow: Kaiserschmarrn with plum sauce and Willi with pear. Even though the focus here is clearly on poultry, they’ve also thought of vegetarians and vegans with appealing options. Gluten-free dishes are also available. The Ammerzelt is also a pioneer when it comes to organic food. Since 2024, it has also been serving a specially brewed beer liqueur with a delicious cream topping.
You'll only find this here: Skillful contradictions and contrasts
A rotisserie that also has plenty to offer vegans and effortlessly combines the needs of families with a festive atmosphere is skillfully carrying out its mission at the Wiesn.
