Oktoberfest Music Competition
And the winner is... Michael Unfried Fenzl, better known as FENZLl! With his song “Bierdringa,” he won two-thirds of all votes in the online public vote – hats off to him! The Rosenheim native had already made a name for himself as a double bass player and founding member of the band Django 3000 before launching his solo career under the stage name “FENZL” in 2017.

Fenzl won the race by a wide margin.

Wiesnboss and Oktoberfest director Dr. Christan Scharpf: “Congratulations to ‘Bierdringa’ on their fantastic victory! This song perfectly captures the Bavarian zest for life that defines Oktoberfest and will undoubtedly create an excellent atmosphere in the festival tents.”
In the second voting phase of the “A Liad für d'Wiesn” competition, 61,385 fans cast their votes for the three winning songs from phase 1. Second place went to Saustoimusi with “Käferbam,” and third place went to Matakustix with “Hüttenliebe.”
The top 3 were played at the “Brass Wiesn” in Eching.

The starting signal was given on Saturday, August 2, at the Brass Wiesn in Eching. On the stage of the well-known brass band festival, the finalists' songs were played live in front of an audience for the first time by the Wiesnkapelle “Die Blechblos'n” brass band.
And this is how the competition went
In May, musicians from Bavaria and neighboring regions had the opportunity to submit their songs online. 115 participated in the “A Liad für d'Wiesn” competition. After the selection process by the expert panel, which consisted of Wolfgang Köbele (bandleader of Münchner Zwietracht/Fischer Vroni), Manfred Leopold (director of the Platzl Oktoberfestkapelle/Armbrustschützenzelt), Gary Hohlweg (Oktoberfestkapelle Gerry & Gary/Käfer Wiesn-Schänke), Benni Kostal (head of entertainment and deputy program director at Antenne Bayern), Alexander Wolff (organizer of Brass Wiesn), Maximilian Kronseder (front man of DeSchoWieda and management Oimara), Andreas Maisberger (managing director of the Munich Breweries Association) and Peter Inselkammer (spokesperson for the Munich Oktoberfest landlords), eight songs were put to a public vote. The top three will now have to face the public again in September.
Organizer and organization
This year, the music competition organized by the Department of Labor and Economic Development is being held for the first time in cooperation with Antenne Bayern, Brass Wiesn, the Verein der Münchner Brauereien e.V. (Association of Munich Breweries), and the Vereinigung der Münchner Wiesnwirte (Association of Munich Oktoberfest Landlords). The Oktoberfest bands “Münchner Zwietracht” and “Die Kirchdorfer” are supporting the development, as is the Bayerische Landesverein für Heimatpflege (Bavarian State Association for Local History). The musical patron is Beni Hafner (Oimara), the rising star of the young Bavarian music scene.
